And below is a heartfelt message from our Director Sher to start us off:
“Twenty Years!!!! It is hard to imagine….It was a conversation with friends about what I planned to do because I was turning 60 that made me think about what I really wanted to do with the rest of my life. I knew in my heart that it was caring for and loving senior and special needs dogs and cats and keeping them with me and close until they passed.
My hubby Joe agreed, and House with a Heart became a reality and no longer a dream. That was in 2006 and in 2008 Joe was gone and the dogs and cats of House with a Heart were what saved me. The Sanctuary and loving and caring for the residents gave me purpose and a reason to get up and keep on going when my heart was hurting.
As time passed my heart has gone from hurting to hoping and has been filled with love and joy and so much gratitude for all of the supporters, volunteers, and friends who have become a part of this mission of love. Together we did it! We saved countless abandoned, hurt, sick and broken dogs and cats, and gave them a new beginning – a new life where they no longer had to be fearful and where they were always surrounded by love and the best of care. And when we were faced with their end, we held onto them until their last breath, so they knew they were LOVED!
I would wish for another 20 years but I likely can only give you another 10. Let’s all celebrate again at our 30th year and then YOU will have to continue the mission! Over the next years we will share how you can help us to keep the legacy alive. LOVE LIVES HERE!!! Wishing you all things wonderful!!!”
