Some of our supporters may have wondered… who was the incredibly special pup who started the House with a Heart mission? Below is a short story that Sher wrote about the first precious soul that came to us:
“Our very first HWAH Resident was BJ, a little Chihuahua Mix. He came from our local Humane Society… we knew he was going to be a Hospice case as he was at the end of his life. BJ was with us for just a short time but he helped to cement my resolve that we would love these senior dogs and make their last days as full of love and care as possible.
After just a few weeks with us, we had to let BJ go. As I sat on the back stairs crying, a beautiful butterfly appeared in front of me and YES it landed on my outstretched hand, stayed there for a few minutes and then flew away. A sign….”
