Our newest Mitzvah Mutt

Sep 11, 2015 | Blog

We reserve a special space at the Sanctuary that is  for a Mitzvah Mutt.  This is what we lovingly call a pet that will eventually return home to its family.  Over the years, we have cared for a dog whose owner was going off to Harvard for her first year of Graduate School and had no place to leave Princi, her beloved companion dog.  Coco’s family had to leave the country for a year and could not take their pet with them.  Another Coco stayed with us when his Mom was going through six months of cancer treatment.  Now, House with a Heart has welcomed little Muffin, whose Dad is in the military and is being deployed to the Middle East for over a year.  Muffin will stay with us during the week while Mom and daughters go to work and school and will return home most weekends to stay with her family.

We are privileged to be able to “pay it forward.”

This is a photo of Muffin and her human sisters and also Dreidel, one of our visiting pups, who looks JUST like Muffin!  Dreidel was here for a short term visit when Muffin arrived and he and Muffin had a lot of doggie fun together.

In the photo Dreidel is on the left and Muffin on the right.
