Luke, forever in our hearts

Friends, we are devastated to tell you that our sweet Luke crossed the Rainbow Bridge yesterday.  Sher wrote a beautiful tribute to this wonderful pup and Martine created a memorial video for Luke that you can watch below. We will miss Luke but we know he is playing with all of the other pups who have crossed before him.

“Our Luke passed on Saturday morning.  He had seemed a little off this past week, just a little more quiet than usual, but he still ate although not with as much enthusiasm as usual and he asked for treats when he came in from exploring the big yard.  This morning he was very lethargic and didn’t want to eat at all and he was very unsteady on his feet and breathing heavily.  Wendy rushed him off to the ER and after some diagnostics it was determined he had a very large mass on his liver.  There was nothing we could do to make this better so we decided to hug him and kiss him goodbye.  Wendy stayed with him and held him in her loving arms until he took his last breath.

Luke came to the Sanctuary when his owner said he was just too much trouble.  We never saw that side of him.  Luke was cool, calm and extremely quiet and sweet.  We never heard him bark once he got over his worry during the first few days of being left by his owner.  Luke loved to sleep in all the beds in the sunroom and he preferred his own company to that of the rambunctious pack.  He did however get along with any and all of the visiting pups who would hang out in the sunroom with him.  He enjoyed his meals and LOVED his treats.

We will miss Luke and are grateful that we were able to love and care for him this past year.  He joins the many others that we have loved and lost.”
