A volunteer for Frederick County Animal Control put a plea up on Facebook with a picture of a beautiful orange cat that had clearly seen better days: “ISO Rescue group that can pull him.
Snickers had til Monday next week otherwise ….” The cat was ten years old, neutered and up to date on vaccines, but was suffering with untreated diabetes and a UTI. His original family had to give him up due to his family becoming homeless. One of the foster volunteers for Frederick Friends of Our County Animal Shelter saw the post and contacted her foster coordinator to see if we had room in our program to take in Snickers.
We were able to take him in before Monday and get him started on medication for the UTI and get him to the vet for diabetes treatment.
Upon examination we found he was in worse shape than we originally believed and we found that he was dehydrated, had a double ear infection, as well as a yeast infection that was causing fur loss. It was unclear how long his diabetes had been untreated. We found that he was an incredibly sweet cat that enjoys playtime and head scratches. He is healing well and will be very adoptable once everything settles. He still needs dental work and continuation of treatment for diabetes.
This cat has been unbelievably sweet and everyone that meets him loves him. If we get this grant we will be able to help more pets like him in the future. Thank you for your consideration and the work you do!

HWAH provided a $ 1,000 grant towards his medical and vet bills

Thanks to YOUR generosity, our HWAH K-9 & Kitty Medical Miracles Fund was able to help Snickers get the medical care he desperately needed
