Can you believe our Marco is now 20 years old?! He has been with us since 2018 and we think it’s about time to re-share his story! If you’re not familiar with Marco’s story, then scroll no further!
“Marco was at the PGCAS in spring of 2018 when we were told that they were full and were going to start euthanizing dogs to make room for more. He arrived with a painful bloody paw and fearful demeanor, and it was clear that he had experienced some trauma. He was marked as a ‘fear biter’ because he had bitten a couple of people at the shelter while they were trying to help him. HWAH stepped in because we could not bear the thought of him being euthanized and believed that with enough love and care, his fear and aggression would eventually fade away.
We were determined to help him heal and find comfort once again. We gave him a dental, a grooming, a cozy place to call home, and some good old fashioned TLC. Slowly but surely he began to blossom under our care and his fearful demeanor began to soften as he experienced genuine love. He began wagging his tail when people approached, snuggling with his doggy friends, chasing after toys, sprinting around the yard and so forth. Marco eventually started jumping in peoples laps and actively seeking out affection!
Our Marvelous Marco has slowed down a bit throughout the years but he has not lost his playful and affectionate self. He is beloved amongst our volunteers and with each passing day he reminds us that no matter how difficult our past may be, there is always hope for a brighter future.”
