Today we are releasing our second installment of our ‘Sanctuary Snippets with Sher’ Series!! If you are curious about how Sher has successfully kept House with a Heart running and saved over 100+ pets in 20 years, then please tune in! In this series, we hope to inspire others to begin their own journey of creating a Senior Pet Sanctuary, even if it means starting off with just one pet!
In this video, Sher is discussing the various ways in which you can help senior or special needs pets.
1. Go through the IRS and become a non-profit: This way, you can ask folks to support you with donations and they can receive a tax write-off.
2. Go through a Fiscal Sponsorship Program: You would not have the non-profit, the sponsor does. This means that they would manage all of the financial aspects of your sanctuary, which is a huge plus.
3. Do it on your own! If you have enough funds and you can manage their vet care and so on, then go ahead and care for one or two senior/special needs pups at a time!!
4. Foster/Adopt!! Find a local rescue that you trust and become a foster for a senior or special needs pet. Usually, the rescue will cover medical costs and you will cover the food, treats, and whatever else! AND you get the give them an amazing life while they are waiting to get adopted! OR you can adopt and be with them until the end

.5. Support your local Senior Pet Sanctuary: You can volunteer your time to any local Senior Pet Sanctuary, donate funds or make recurring donations, or share their social media to friends!!
