Our theme this year is “New Beginnings” and throughout the day we’ll be sharing wonderful success stories from our HWAH K-9 & Kitty Medical Miracles Program. Can you help us provide “New Beginnings” to senior and special needs pups and kitties next year?
This Miracle Medical Grant rescue story comes from our newest rescue partner, Reed’s Rescue.
Sad sad rescue story:
“Odie came to Baltimore County Animal Shelter as a stray, not-neutered and with a severe wound that was infected. He was hospitalized in early June shortly after Reed’s adopted him with a fever of 104. They kept him to de-bride the wound in his leg,
Since then he has been slowly gaining weight, his wound site has improved dramatically thanks to the care of his foster mom. He is now thriving, playing with toys, enjoying the yard.
All of our adopters are special, but it takes an extraordinary adopter like Jeanne to adopt not one but two senior pups together. Odie, 12 and Diggy 9 have been living together in a foster home. Jeanne knew they couldn’t be separated and adopted them both. Congrats Odie, Diggy and Jeanne! .”
This program is so important to our mission to help save as many senior dogs and cats abandoned in shelters as possible. These animals are often overlooked because of their age and health issues. Our rescue partners are other senior dog and cat lovers who know these animals have so much more love to give! This year, the program helped save 19 pets!
