Snowball and his bonded sibling Buddy (13yo) belonged to a US service member who moved to Japan on orders in August 2022. The owner did not think these frail dogs would survive the trans-Pacific flight in the hold of the aircraft or the mandatory 6-month quarantine in Japan. Unable to find a relative or friend who would assume responsibility for their care, she asked Leashes End to care for them.
From Leashes End: “Snowball is a 15-year-old Maltese with a wicked grade-5 heart murmur and a mouth full of rotten teeth. He’ll need a cardiology consult before he can be approved for anesthesia and a dental. The estimated bill? $2,000.”
