From Leashes End June 2024: “We’d like to introduce you to Arthur. Arthur should have been a fairy tail rescue story …. A good catizen alerted me to his presence at a local shelter, where he had been for far too long (since August 2023) and offered to help sponsor him if Leashes End pulled him. With 15 cats already in the house, I asked my neighbor, who was looking for a cat to adopt, if he would foster Arthur for us. The deal was sealed and I went to pick Arthur up.
We knew that Arthur was blind and we knew his eyes needed veterinary care that the shelter could not provide. But when I saw the extent of Arthur’s eye disease/injury, I was shocked. I simply was not prepared for the level of neglect that poor Arthur had suffered during nearly a year at the shelter. We rushed him to our ophthalmologist, who confirmed that we needed to remove both eyes (bilateral enucleation). But first, we had to get Arthur strong enough for surgery … He was dehydrated, malnourished, and in need of antibiotics. So over the course of the past week, we have been giving him daily subcutaneous fluids, as much food as he’ll eat, and lubricating his eyes frequently with ointment.. He’s such a sweet cat, he deserves so much better than he’s gotten so far. Surgery was in June of 2024,
